Skydance's BEHEMOTH

This is an amazing game….for VR….(lower your expectations)

Skydance’s Behemoth came out on November 14, 2024, for PSVR2, Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest 3, and PCVR. It’s a dark fantasy hack-and-slash VR game that has caught gamers' attention with its bold design and immersive gameplay.

In Behemoth, you play as Wren, a hunter cursed by a strange rot. You go on a risky adventure to defeat huge creatures called Behemoths. The game focuses on physical combat, making players use swords, bows, and climbing. VR makes it feel very real. A grappling hook adds mobility, helping you move around and gain advantages in fights.

The game looks impressive, especially during Behemoth battles. You feel awe and sometimes even vertigo when facing these giant enemies. The world is inspired by Nordic fantasy, filled with detailed settings, though some critics mention issues like objects appearing out of nowhere and frame rate drops, which can break immersion.

Reviews for Behemoth are mixed to positive. Some loved the unique VR experience and enemy battles, while others found it too easy, with not enough boss fights and simple puzzles, which might leave some gamers wanting more challenge.

Players share similar views, appreciating the game’s grand scale and combat. However, they are concerned about repetitive gameplay and technical problems. On Metacritic, the game has a user score of 7.4, meaning mostly good feedback but with some critiques.

Behemoth by Skydance is a big move in the VR gaming world, letting players fight giant foes in a richly detailed fantasy setting. It shines in delivering a sense of scale and combat, although it struggles with gameplay variety and performance issues. VR action-adventure fans will find it worth playing, though they might wish for more depth and polish.
